Mile #22 Bella
Bella was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic Ewing’s Sarcoma after a year of misdiagnosed pain. Bella endured a year of aggressive chemo and radiation. During this time she continued to kick ass on the soccer field and spread love and strength to everyone she knew and encountered. Bella adopted all the littles at the hospital, showing them to fight fiercely, gracefully, and faithfully. She dubbed them ‘Bella’s Minions.’ We continue to fight with them daily. After a year of chemo and radiation the cancer returned with a vengeance. Again she battled. Nearly a year of chemo and more than 40 rounds of radiation, she continued to smile. When Bella was told there was nothing medically to be done she bravely answered “I am not giving up. I will continue to fight.” Bella died five days before her 16th birthday in 2015. Her legacy lives on in our fight against the demon that stole her too early.
