On June 1st, 2022, I had a total left hip replacement surgery. Due to the pounding and stress I placed upon my body constantly training and competing in ultra-marathons for the better part of the last decade. I used these races as vehicles to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for children with cancer and their families. Because of this major surgery I was forced to withdraw from my latest attempt to compete in the October 2022 Moab 240-mile endurance run through the Moab desert. After many weeks of anxiety, depression and soul searching surrounding these circumstances I have decided to transfer my entry to the October 2023 race!!
It is my intention and conviction to become the first person ever to complete this race after having had a total hip replacement surgery!!!
Why you may ask, would I elect to do such a foolhardy thing?
Because children with cancer are forced to do much harder things daily and repeatedly due to the lack of research
funding and the current toxic outdated treatment options. It’s the least I can do! FULL STOP!
