Mile #15 Rory
I have a daughter named Rory Bent-Buist. She has the most vibrant red hair you could ever dream of. Her laughter is a burst of energy that resonates to each corner of the room. She is cautious yet loves adventure. Her favorite color is pink but she hates dresses. She makes the best funny faces out of anyone I know. Our favorite thing to do together is read books, books and more books! She also loves puzzles.
Rory was diagnosed with an undifferentiated sarcoma on and in her heart after she collapsed on the playground while we were vacationing in Florida. We were flown by survival flight back to Michigan where she endured open heart surgery, a severe stroke, countless hours of physical therapy and one round of chemotherapy. She was just 3 years old.
After her chemo began she slowly slipped into a coma over the next several weeks. She was in a coma for about five weeks. We were told they’ve never seen a tumor like this. It was the only one of its kind. They searched the world for an answer but ultimately ran out of time. Rory died on March 28, 2017.
She is loved beyond measure and I miss her with each breath I take. Please carry her and her will to live with you.
With love and respect,
