“Mya was budded on Earth, to bloom in Heaven.” Mya, at 5 years old, was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (Oct 2007). Following a successful national protocol of treatment, Mya was then diagnosed with a Secondary Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) (Aug 2009). This very rare form of cancer was caused by the treatment received for her NHL. Her journey and battle took her from NY and PA to the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN where she commenced a research protocol of treatment to include her second and third stem cell transplants. Despite doing very well, Mya relapsed within 60 days of her third transplant, and gained Angel wings on April 10, 2013 following complications and late effects of the treatments used during her 5 1/2 year battle.
