Story

Hi my name is Jeanae Culpepper, my son is Ace Culpepper. He is 15 years old and a sophomore at Loudon Valley High School in Purcellville, VA. He was diagnosed with High Risk B Cell ALL Philadelphia Chromosome Positive on December 6, 2019. He is currently inpatient for the next 3 to 4 weeks receiving his consolidation block one treatments at Children’s National Hospital in DC. I have seen the many posts about a child being honored for a mile and I kept overlooking it and overlooking it, I guess for some reason I thought there was no way he would be picked out of all of the many children. That’s when I looked over at my son in his hospital bed and thought to myself we no longer live in fear or doubt! He has shown myself and so many others what true strength is! Ace is a phenomenal young man! He still somehow maintains to get his schoolwork done, make others around him laugh and smile, take all of the confusion, treatments, complications in stride. As a single mother to Ace and his younger brother Miles this “new reality” has brought about many more hardships, however, we have gained so much as a family unit!!!! We have met incredible people who are now more like family, his team of doctors and nurses are heaven sent! Thank you so much for creating a platform for so many boys and girls to be celebrated, acknowledged and just simply loved for all to see! #KickcancerintheAce
