Mile #200 Charlie
This is Charlie Poole, a teen who, on February 2, 2016, was diagnosed with DIPG (diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, a brain tumor which is terminal upon diagnosis and there is no treatment for).
He endured radiation twice, traveled far from home for a clinical trial and out of the country for experimental treatments to stop the beast.
He lived with this aggressive, inoperable tumor for 30 months, fully aware of his prognosis and suffering the loss of friends to DIPG.
Charlie has been a Stillbrave mile for 3 years, but this is the first year writing in the past tense. Charlie passed away from DIPG in August of 2018.
Charlie had a quiet strength about him, never complained about his situation tried to stay positive. He was thankful for a good life, and wanted to be a voice for all the younger children who have cancer and don't get the chance to grow up.
