Story

Hi,
This is Elias Garcia.  He was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, Located in his Right humerus, February 2022.
He had eight rounds of chemo, and then surgery. Chemo did not shrink the tumor and he had less than 10% necrosis.  The only way to save him was to amputate his entire right arm.
Elias continued treatment after surgery, but then begged us to stop because, as he said, “it’s killing me”.
Shortly after our decision to stop treatment we received results from a genetic test that likely has caused him to be chemo resistant.
Elias has overcome many obstacles in the past through his other diagnosis of autism and sensory processing disorder.  Everything has always required a lot of extra care to help support his positive development.  Cancer and an arm amputation has been overwhelming hard.

He lives in  Anticipation for his scans every three months. He has to be sedated for this to happen so it every time, every 3 months.   He’s trying really hard to figure out this altered way through life.  But, he also finds ways to smile and have fun.

Thank you so much for what you do!! Thank you for sharing your time, energy, and memories of Shayla with us. It really means a lot!!
