Story

Mile #119 Luke Johnson

Luke was diagnosed with ALL t cell high risk on May 23, 2012. He was so much more than that diagnosis. He was funny and smart. He was becoming an advocate for childhood cancer awareness. He received proclamations from our city council, mayor and governor for September to be childhood cancer awareness month. He was interviewed by our local PBS station to talk about cancer and going to school. He went to high school and loved NJROTC, history and science. He was a great writer and the essay he posted about childhood cancer this past September was touching and very real. He met with President Bill Clinton on November 23, 2014 and talked about getting more research dollars for childhood cancer, Russian history and politics, golf and playing pool. He is very loved by his family. Luke always wanted to learn and that made his family and friends want to learn. Luke's birthday is 9/11, he would be 18 this year, it would have been his end of treatment day also. My Luke passed away on November 24, 2014. His leaving has left so many broken hearts.
